Use cases
Waindow is designed for direct tasks rather than background surveillance. These are the situations it is built to solve.
Use Arrange to tile eligible standard windows on the active display. Or save a named workspace, preview every mapped, missing, or restricted window, restore it after display changes, and undo the latest move.
Useful for: Coding sessions, design review, research, support, and remote work.
Run Rescue Windows to scan for unreachable title bars after a monitor or resolution change. Waindow shows the affected apps before anything moves, then brings the windows onto visible displays only when you apply.
Useful for: Docking changes, removed monitors, remote sessions, and resolution switches.
Create a Markdown memo for the focused window. Waindow keeps open and archived notes in one searchable local library, so a review checklist or handoff note stays connected to its work context.
Useful for: PR reviews, browser research, QA, client work, and recurring tasks.
Start Long-page Capture on a supported browser or document view. Waindow scrolls in verified steps and produces one tall PNG while a compact progress card stays out of the capture.
Useful for: Product references, documentation, QA evidence, and page archives.
Press ⌃⌥⇧S and drag over the visible words. Waindow recognizes only that screen region on device and copies non-empty text without saving a screenshot file or history.
Useful for: Images, video frames, remote desktops, error messages, and custom interfaces.
Choose Keep Mac Awake and optionally let the display turn off. Run it until manually stopped, after a timer, or until a chosen time. The direct MacBook build also offers an explicit closed-lid session.
Useful for: Builds, downloads, exports, presentations, and remote sessions.
Blackout Mode darkens connected displays until you press Enter, click, or scroll. It does not end apps or inspect what is running.
Useful for: Presentations, screen focus, and short breaks from a multi-display desk.
Waindow exposes a small set of typed local actions through Shortcuts, compatible MCP clients, and CLI. The connection is optional and off by default; the app contains no language model and does not monitor prompts or progress.
Useful for: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Shortcuts, and local automation workflows.
Choose the specialist when it fits
A broader toolkit is useful only when several of its jobs belong together for you. If one job matters most, the dedicated app can be the better choice.
Rectangle goes deeper on dedicated keyboard positions and drag-to-edge snapping. Waindow does not provide that drag workflow.
Shottr goes deeper on annotation, redaction, backgrounds, measurements, editing, and image workflows. Waindow capture is narrower, with simple copy, pin, and on-device text extraction after a long capture.
Amphetamine goes deeper on Triggers and specialized sessions. Waindow offers a simpler manual session inside its wider toolkit.
