Waindow is a good fit when you want

  • one free app for a small set of practical desktop tools;
  • window arrangement plus notes attached to specific windows;
  • a long-page PNG or on-device text copied from a visible screen region;
  • Keep Awake, Blackout Mode, or linked window resizing;
  • human-first controls that an external AI or automation tool can optionally call through typed local actions;
  • local storage and no monitoring of apps or work progress.

Choose another tool when you need

  • a general AI assistant or a built-in language model;
  • cloud note synchronization or team collaboration;
  • full video recording and editing;
  • process-by-process performance monitoring and history;
  • an App Store or currently notarized direct-download build;
  • public source code or a cross-platform Windows/Linux app.

Who maintains this

Built from daily use, not a recommendation database.

Waindow is built and maintained by indiveloper (@sornrus), a Korea-based solo maker who uses it in daily Mac work. The capabilities and limitations on this site are checked against the current public build instead of being inferred from old launch copy.

Product decisions, wrong turns, and future experiments are shared from the same public maker account and the indiveloper GitHub profile. It is not presented as expert advice or as a Waindow-only sales channel.

Permissions

Requested only at the point of use.

Accessibility

Used for user-requested window movement and control. Waindow checks the same running app identity that macOS lists in System Settings.

Screen Recording

Requested only when the user starts a long-page capture, Screen Text selection, or Studio recording. Screen Text keeps its image in memory only; saved captures and recording projects stay local unless the user explicitly exports or shares them.

Microphone and camera

Requested only when the user explicitly enables that track for a Studio recording. Waindow still contains no voice input, speech-to-text model, or background listening.

Distribution status

Current public preview.

Version 1.10.0is a universal direct-download build. It is locally signed but not yet Developer ID notarized, so macOS may require System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway on first launch. This limitation is stated plainly on the download page and will be removed only after notarization is restored.
