Waindow is a free native macOS workspace utility for arranging and restoring windows, with local tools for memos, long-page capture, copying visible screen text, presentation, demo recording, display focus, sleep prevention, and optional typed control from external tools.

Yes. Waindow 1.10.0 is free and has no account, license key, trial, purchase, subscription, usage limit, or advertising SDK.

Waindow requires macOS 13.1 or later. The current 1.10.0 ZIP is a Universal app for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.

The current public preview is locally signed but not yet Developer ID notarized. Move Waindow.app to Applications and try to open it once. If macOS blocks it, open System Settings → Privacy & Security, find the message about Waindow in the Security section, choose Open Anyway, authenticate if asked, and confirm Open. Do not disable Gatekeeper.

Accessibility is used for window movement and control that you request. Screen Recording is requested only for Long-page Capture, Screen Text, or Studio. Microphone and camera access are requested only when you explicitly enable those tracks for a Studio recording.

No. AI-session monitoring, terminal monitoring, work-progress alerts, and related notification features were removed. Waindow does not inspect prompts, terminal activity, or individual app usage. When you open Window Finder, it reads open app and window names only for that search, then discards the query, results, and names when the panel closes.

No. Waindow contains no language model, voice input, speech-to-text model, or background listening. Studio can record an optional microphone track only when you enable it for that recording. External tools can optionally request a limited set of typed local actions when you enable that connection.

Yes. Press ⌃⌥⇧S and drag over visible text. Recognition runs on device, no screenshot file or history is created, and the clipboard changes only when readable text is found. Accuracy still depends on text size, contrast, resolution, language, and obstruction.

Memos, preferences, captures, Studio projects, temporary shelf references, and Mac status snapshots stay on the Mac. Nothing is uploaded by the app. The app has no analytics or telemetry. The website uses anonymous aggregate analytics without a Waindow account or third-party advertising cookie.

Use Check for Updates in the Waindow menu or Control Center. The app compares its version with the public Waindow manifest. When a newer build exists, it opens the official download path so you can replace the app manually; Waindow does not silently replace itself.

Optionally. Waindow exposes a small allowlisted set of typed local actions through Apple Shortcuts, compatible MCP clients, and CLI. The connection is off by default and does not give those tools access to existing memo text, prompts, browsing history, or arbitrary screen content.

No. The public release repository contains the compiled Waindow ZIP and release information only. The application and website source repositories remain private.

Waindow is not a general AI assistant, cloud note service, team collaboration system, full video recorder or editor, per-process performance monitor, or cross-platform Windows and Linux app.
