Session ends
Choose an end condition before you walk away.
There are no app, process, network, battery, or location triggers. Waindow starts only the session you explicitly request.
After a timer
Enter 1 to 10,080 minutes—up to seven days. macOS releases the idle-sleep assertion at the selected timeout even if the panel is no longer open. Closed-lid protection remains guarded by Waindow and ends with the session.
At a chosen time
Pick the time the session should end. When it ends or you stop it, Waindow releases its assertion and normal macOS idle-sleep behavior returns.
Display during session
Keep the Mac awake without wasting the display.
Allow display sleep
Prevent idle system sleep while allowing the display to follow its normal idle-sleep setting. Use this for a long build, download, export, or local automation that does not need a lit screen.
Keep display and Mac awake
Prevent idle display sleep as well as idle system sleep. Use it when the screen must remain visible for a presentation, dashboard, reading session, or demonstration. Explicitly choosing Sleep still sleeps the Mac, and closing a MacBook lid requires the separate supported option below.
MacBook lid closed
A separate guarded option—not a promise for every Mac.
On a supported MacBook running the direct Waindow build, the panel can request continued work after the lid closes while the built-in display turns off. You must start it manually in this panel. If macOS rejects activation, Waindow reports the failure and returns to normal sleep behavior.
Designed to fail closed
- a companion guard restores normal lid sleep if Waindow exits;
- the next normal launch retries recovery after an unfinished session;
- stopping the session restores ordinary sleep behavior.
Physical safety still matters
- keep vents clear during long work;
- watch heat and battery yourself;
- critical heat or battery conditions can override the session;
- stop the session before putting a MacBook in a bag;
- do not assume activation succeeded unless Waindow shows it active.
Honest fit
Use the smallest tool that solves the actual problem.
- Use Waindow
- You also use its windows, memos, capture, or display tools.
- Use caffeinate
- You need a one-off terminal command and no visual session controls.
- Choose a trigger app
- You need rules based on apps, Wi-Fi, CPU, power, or battery.
- Not fake activity
- Waindow does not jiggle the pointer, fake keys, or preserve chat presence.
- Not monitoring
- It does not inspect apps, prompts, terminals, or work progress.
- First launch
- Not yet Developer ID notarized; macOS may ask you to use Open Anyway when first launching a downloaded build.
